Leave No Trace Workshops

Tanagh Outdoor Education Staff has now implemented a Leave No Trace Awareness Course to complement their range of Outdoor Education/Recreation Programmes along with the support of Leave No Trace Ireland. These courses may be run as a 1-day programme or as part of residential Outdoor Education Programme

Target Audience

Those working in outdoor recreation or related areas who want to learn more about the principles of “Leave No Trace”

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course participants will be able to:

• Learn the impact of many recreational activities on our landscape
• Understand and be able to implement the seven principles of “Leave No Trace”
• Implement techniques to minimise the social and environmental impacts of our recreational habits

Content

This Course explains Why Leave No Trace is so essential today. Many of the skills and techniques are based on research that specifically examines human recreational impacts. Many times most people don’t feel as though one small action or behaviour can make a difference – positive or negative but our course will leave you equipped with Leave No Trace skills that will drastically reduce our recreational impacts and improve the condition of wild and natural lands one person at a time.

This course is a fun way to learn the principles of Leave No Trace and how you can incorporate them into your life and business or schools programme. The course will bring you through an interactive classroom based workshop followed by an outdoor exercise to practice your learning. Be prepared to explore the magic of Monaghan! You will never “get outside” the same way again.

All of our core Instructing staff have become Leave No Trace Trainers and are now successfully running Leave No Trace Training Courses and implementing Leave No Trace skills into their everyday outdoor activities.
